History

A grand Chola temple where Rahu worshipped Shiva and was freed from his serpent curse. It is the only Navagraha temple where Rahu appears with human face and consorts.

Significance

Famous for the Rahu Kala Pooja, when milk poured over the Rahu idol visibly turns blue. Prayed to for Rahu dosha, Kala Sarpa dosha, snake dosha, mental confusion and marriage delay.

Pariharam

Attend Rahu Kaalam abhishekam with raw milk. Offer urad dal, blue/black flowers and coconut; chant Rahu Kavacham on Sunday during Rahu Kaalam.
